I need help installing expresso livre in English. I've experience in installing egw 1.6 before.

the installation will use dovecot for authentication and IMAP server.

Hi Reno, have you tried download and install Expresso by the manual install?
Should be similar to egroupware 1.0.
If you want you can use the livecd (unfortunately only in portuguese now). Or if you want to test there is this demo

I have no experience with egw 1.0. I'm already using egw 1.6 and still trying to decide whether to change to expresso or not. if expresso cannot do IMAP authentication like egw 1.6 then I probably won't change.

do you know if expresso can authenticate/create account based on IMAP server? I'm using using dovecot as my IMAP server?

There is not a oficial way to auth through imap. With some hacks we could make a way to use only expressoMail, but the others modules is not possible.

Does the Dovecot support SASL authentication?

The ExpressoLivre has the same EmailAdmin module like EGroupware (version 1.0) to configure values for IMAP Server.

dovecot has its own dovecot SASL. this is what my postfix SMTP uses to authenticate sender. but I don't think dovecot uses the SASL by itself.

on egw 1.6 there 2 configuration settings regarding email authentication:

1. Standard mailserver settings (used for Mail authentication too)
2. Authentication / Accounts

no.1 is where i put my IMAP and SMTP details
no.2 I just set 'mail' as authentication type

are these two configurable in expresso/egw1.0? if yes, this is what I need to know.

expressoLivre do not support this kind of authentication.

You must use "ldap" authentication.

AS I SAID it's POSSIBLE.

After intalled Expresso execute this queries (change localhost to you imap server):

INSERT INTO phpgw_config values('phpgwapi', 'mail_port', '143');
INSERT INTO phpgw_config values('phpgwapi', 'mail_server', 'localhost');

An than change the authentication to MAIL in expresso/setup


And that's it


So, the Calendar will work whith bugs, ContactCenter and ExpressoAdmin won't work, because ExpressoLivre neglected the community
